Rigmar Osterkamp, Germany

Rigmar Osterkamp is a distinguished economist, researcher and lecturer with a career spanning over five decades.

He earned his doctoral degree in Environmental Economics from the University of Munich (1975), following studies in economics at universities in Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich. After completing doctoral studies at the University of Munich, Rigmar served as Assistant Professor at the same institution.

Between 1978 and 2007, Rigmar held pivotal roles at the Ifo Institute for Economic Research, where he led departments specializing in economic development and health economics. During this period, he also served as co-editor and editor of the Ifo Studies on Empirical Economic Research, contributing to the advancement of data-driven economic analysis.

An accomplished educator, Mr. Osterkamp has taught economics at the School for Political Studies in Munich for over three decades and served as Senior Lecturer at the University of Namibia from 2007 to 2011. His teaching has emphasized the intersection of economics with societal issues, such as healthcare systems, climate protection, and income redistribution.

Since 2011, he has focused on independent research addressing critical global challenges. His inquiries include optimizing organ allocation systems, assessing Africa's development trajectory, and evaluating the societal implications of an unconditional basic income.
